How I Created This Web Site

I am asked so often to explain how I created this web site that I've decided to tell my story about it.

Looking back now, I find it hard to remember a time when web building wasn't part of my life. It feels so comfortable that nowadays it's just like a second skin. In fact the whole idea of writing, building and creating web sites fits me like a glove. However, it wasn't something I came to easily though. It took some pretty constant persuasion!

To begin with, when my daughter, Carmen, introduced me to the idea of web site building by using a process called Site Build It, or SBI for short, I have to say I laughed at her!
Who, me? What makes you think I could do that? And I promptly forgot about it!

But Carmen continued to enthusiastically promote the idea and so eventually I asked a trusted 'computer' friend to check out this 'SBI thing' and get back to me with her ideas on it. I was somewhat surprised when she told me she could only find amazingly positive reviews about it.

Then Carmen gifted me my web site for Christmas! What could I say?
Within a week I was solidly hooked and SBI and I have been 'in a relationship' ever since!

A sound relationship is made up of several valuable components and my relationship with SBI - in every sense of the word! - addresses my needs wonderfully.

The process is simplified to such a degree that success (i.e., profits, not the mere presence of a Web site) is achievable even for a beginner like me. SBI! really has changed my life. To begin with I thought it would be just about sharing my knowledge with others - but today it is about running my own business!

It hadn't occurred to me that I would be able to get a business up and running on a website just by doing what I love! But SBI! removes the technical barriers so that many functions are completely automated.

All I had to do was follow it. Really! The most successful SBI! owners say "all they did was follow the Guide." They don't get sidetracked, or have to guess at what to do next. Same with me! SBI!'s guided approach helps me reach my goals. If you like a 'systems' approach it's excellent, and if, as a work from home parent, your time is precious, the action guide keeps you easily on task. It works well for many different learning styles too and has become my constant point of reference - great bedtime reading!

Continuous mentoring via the Action Guide and online help is always available. I feel carefully guided every step of the way, which makes success that much more do-able. The SBI! private forums provide friendly, helpful support from other Site Build It! users. Help is available from folks who are in the same place as me. The forums are a place where support is given freely by those who have trodden the path just as I am now. And I love the motto - if you've been helped, pay it forward.

Choosing the best site concept is not always as obvious as you might think. As a proud grandmother to wee Jamie, I believe it was his joyous presence in our lives that gave me the added impetus to share my experiences as a parenting educator.
