Baby Sleep Sack
Baby Sleep Sack -
A valuable aid for bedtime
I have become an enthusiastic advocate of a
baby sleep sack, since my grandson so readily associates his Go-Go Bag, which is his baby sleep sack, with his sleeping routines for both daytime and night-time sleeps.
After his bath, Jamie is dressed in his night time pyjamas, and then into his baby sleep sack. Then it is time for his Dad to read the bed time stories to him, while Jamie holds his cuddly, all snuggled and secure in his gogo bag.
As jamie and his parents have always lived in hot climates, his baby sleep sack
has meant there was no need for blankets, duvet or
other bedding, and yet he is
covered, secure and comfortable.
The baby sleep sack provides the warmth needed whern using the air conditioning, while eliminating the need for any other coverings.

In colder climates, parents comment that their baby stays
warm within
the baby sleep sack when the covers are kicked off.
There are many baby sleep sacks available in numerous countries and once
parents have used them, they find them invaluable as aids for bedtime routines as well as
solving many problems about heat, cold and baby coverings. Many
different types of materials are used; cotton, wool, merino, quilting,
etc.
I suggest you look at this wonderful website -
Merino Kids: Merino bag - Gogo Bag from New Zealand.
A baby sleep sack is another valuable aid to
baby sleep problems and enables
association with sound bedtime routines.
Swaddling Newborns:
Swaddling is also a technique that I would
recommend for the very young baby.
This is when the baby is wrapped firmly in a
swaddling cloth
before being placed in the crib or bassinet, or settled for sleep.

The idea behind this is that babies respond to firm swaddling which imitates the
security of the mother's womb.
Many newborns appear more at ease when firmly swaddled.
A large, light muslin cloth which stretches,
breathes and moves flexibly is the easiest to use.
There are many ways to swaddle a baby, and it's good for
parents to experiment.
Some babes like to be completely wrapped, while others are happier with
an arm left out, or the wrapping to be less firm.
Many years ago, mothers just used a cloth nappy to swaddle
their babies.
Experiment with your own style, but be sure not to
use acrylic cloth which doesn't breathe.
I recommend the Snug and Tug from gomamagodesigns for swaddling:
Swaddling
Designed specifically for swaddling, the Snug & Tug comes
in two sizes and many different styles.
There is a wonderful helpful book which
describes different methods of wrapping for different baby needs and
different baby sleep problems.
