Baby Sleep Sack

Baby Sleep Sack -
Valuable aid for bedtime

baby sleep sack I have become an enthusiastic advocate of a baby sleep sack, since my grandson so readily associates his Go-Go Bag with his sleep routines for both daytime and night-time sleeps.

He very much associates settling into his bedtime routines with his baby sleep sack, which for him is his "Gogo bag". His Dad reads stories to him, while Jamie holds his cuddly, all snuggled in his gogo bag.

As he and his parents have always lived in hot climates, his baby sleep sack has meant there was no need for blankets, duvet or other bedding, and yet he is covered, secure and comfortable.

In colder climates, parents comment that their baby stays warm within the baby sleep sack when the covers are kicked off.

There are many baby sleep sacks available in numerous countries and once used parents find them invaluable as aids for bedtime routines as well as solving many problems about heat, cold and baby coverings. Many different types of materials are used; cotton, wool, merino, quilting, etc.

I suggest you look at this wonderful website -

A baby sleep sack is another valuable aid to baby sleep problems and enables asscociation with sound bedtime routines.

Swaddling Newborns:

Swaddling is also a technique that I would recommend for the very young baby. This is when the baby is wrapped firmly in a swaddling cloth before being placed in the crib or bassinette, or settled for sleep.
swaddling newborns The idea behind this is that babies respond to firm swaddling which imitates the security of the mother's womb.

Many newborns appear more at ease when firmly swaddled.

A large, light muslin cloth which stretches, breathes and moves flexibly is the easiest to use.

There are many ways to swaddle a baby, and it's good for parents to experiment.

Some babes like to be completely wrapped, while others are happier with an arm left out, or the wrapping to be less firm.

Many years ago, mothers just used a cloth nappy to swaddle their babies.

Experiment with your own style, but be sure not to use acrylic cloth which doesn't breathe.

There are some wonderful helpful books which describe different methods of wrapping for different baby needs and different baby sleep problems.

The Happiest Baby on the Block
by Dr. Harvey Karp

This wonderful book provides some good advice about swaddling and the scientific reasons Dr. Karp believes it works.

There is some very good, wise, common sense here, as well as many helpful techniques for soothing babies gently, calmly and lovingly to sleep.

I highly recomend this book as extremely helpful on this topic.
